The Information Systems (IS) department is equipped with the latest technology for port terminal management, using Tideworks Technology's systems for the port’s core functionality, and first-class third party companies for other supporting systems. The IS department provides MIT users with quality technical services and the information needed for the decision making process.:

  • Mainsail: Port terminal management system, used for processing all import, export and transshipment transactions, including all gate, yard, vessel and rail operations
  • Spinnaker: Planning management system for terminal and vessel class design, vessel discharge planning, vessel stow and pre-stow planning, yard and rail planning
  • EDI (Electronic Data Interchange): Standard communication framework for exchange of information between customers and the terminal
  • Traffic Control: Real time traffic control system, supported by DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) devices, facilitates accurate real-time yard inventory, updating the Mainsail and Spinnaker databases through computers installed on container-handling equipment, using a 2.4 GHz wireless network (Wi-Fi) for all communications throughout the container yard
  • Forecast: Interactive web-based systems, allows remote access (via Internet) to transactions and the most relevant, container-related information Grasp: Reefer container monitoring system, allows to remotely access and retrieve temperature readings to ensure continuous supervision service
